1/8 Mile Racing Planned for Friday Night, July 10
In preparation for next weekend’s Race on the River, which will be run on the 1/8th mile, Cordova International Raceway will be offering racers the opportunity to make 1/8th mile hits on the track this Friday night, July 10th. “Since we’re a ¼ mile facility, we want to make sure our racers are prepared and ready for 1/8 mile racing next weekend,” said General Manager, Bobbi Jo Cox, “We’ll be offering specific lanes for 1/8 mile along with regular ¼ mile racing as well. When it comes to eliminations tomorrow night, trophy class will be run ¼ mile while our gamblers race will be 1/8 mile. That will give racers a chance to run eliminations on the 1/8.”
In addition to test n tune, trophy and a gambler’s race, CIR will be offering another chance for High School and TCR racers to complete a points race. “Weather has been a big issue for Cordova this year and the High School kids seem to have had it the worst so far. Their original Battle of the High Schools was rained out, rescheduled, and then rained out again on the second try. Out of four potential points races, they finally were able to have their first race last week. The weather looks good for tomorrow night, so we hope to see lots of racers here!” Cox added.
Gates open at 5p Friday, July 10 with racing from 5:30p-10p. Adults are $8, kids (6-12) are $3 and Test n Tune is $25. For more information, call 309-654-2110.
