Big Weekend of Racing with AMC Nationals & Final Points Race of 2015
The world of AMC performance makes its way back to Cordova International Raceway this weekend with the 36th Annual NAMDRA AMC Nationals. Open to all AMC and AMC/Jeep enthusiasts, owners, AMC Clubs and the general public, the show begins Friday afternoon as we expect over 100 of AMC's best to start coming in from across the country. There will be open test n tune Friday night with an AMC only gamblers race. Then on Saturday, racing will commence for the AMC's at 8am. "We're excited to welcome the AMC guys and gals back to Cordova again. AMC enthusiasts are some of the most dedicated racers and spectators that we see all year," Bobbi Jo Cox, General Manager, stated. In addition, an AMC car show will also be held Saturday with 35 different classes to be judged upon (Best in Show, Participants Choice, Best Wagon, Best Convertible, etc.). After a full morning of AMC only racing, stay around to witness the final Bracket Class Points race on 2015 held on Saturday afternoon. With tons of great racers and a slow start to the 2015 Points season with lots of weather issues, it's coming down to the wire as to who will win each Points class! In Top Eliminator, Lou Rausch of Traer, IA is currently in first with 223 points, followed closely by Scott Marsden of Davenport, IA with 214 points and Anthony Layne of Coal Valley, IL with 212 points. Modified has Jeff Weets of Morrison, IL with 349 points stoutly in the lead and ready to take first place. The battle for second place is currently between Kurt Clark of Davenport, IA at 215 points and Aaron Mitchel of Fulton, IL with 211 points – which is less than a round apart! Anything can happen and points are sure to shift during the last race with so many people within striking distance!
Super ET currently has Myranda Cozad of Davenport, IA in the lead with 285 points, followed closely by Greg Dietrich from Mt. Morris, IL at 236 points and Jimmie Barrett hailing from Havana, IL in third with 224 points. True Street has Justin Rosenbohm from LeClaire, IA in the lead at 339 points, Denny Rankin of Davenport with 300 points and Andrew Quinn out of Monticello, IA with 241 points. The battle for first will be close with Rankin's World Series runner-up points helping his cause in his quest to catch Rosenbohm. "We're very excited to see how well our racers can do on this final points race," Office Manager, Brenda Stuart said. "I will definitely have my work cut out for me that day tracking points but we're excited to see who wins. Good luck to everyone!" With so many great racers in our points program, Saturday's race is sure to be full of excitement and close races. Saturday, September 12th is going to be full of the best in AMC racing, along with final bracket action thrills of the year that you just can't miss.
