Local Racers Band Together to Make Haylee Short Race a Huge Success
Cordova International Raceway has always been known as a family-friendly place where
the racers come together as one, big family. This weekend was no exception. Local CIR racers banded together to give back to one of their own. Chad Short has been racing at Cordova for many years now and is blessed with two, young children. Chad and his wife, Melissa, were devastated back in 2013 to find out their daughter, Haylee, had been diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, Haylee's now in kindergarten and on the road to recovery, but the Short Family wanted to be able to give back to St. Jude - the hospital that helped save their daughter's life.

"We really couldn't be happier to help give back to a place like St. Jude," said General
Manager, Bobbi Jo Cox. "It really hits home for me to have two kids myself, one being in kindergarten, and to see what the Short Family has gone through. I'm sure it hits home for a lot of our racers to just feel lucky to have healthy children. This was a great way for our racing community to give a little something back and they really did!" Along with racing, there were tons of basket raffles, silent auction items, and a 50-50 in the pit café. There were several race classes, including trophy, an all-run junior race, gamblers race, index racing and even a pit vehicle race were all the proceeds went directly to St. Jude.
