HangoverFest 2016 Canceled

It’s sad news for those ready to race on New Year’s Day – HangoverFest 2016 has been canceled. With the winter storm that blew through on Monday, CIR was left with close to ½ inch of ice across the entire property along with 3+ inches of snow. While it’s more common to race than to not race on New Year’s Day at Cordova, Mother Nature seems to have won this round. “The elements just worked against us,” said CIR General Manager, Bobbi Jo Cox. “Dumpster Dan was able to clear the snow off the track surface pretty quickly but the ice is our problem. We haven’t had enough sunshine this week to help melt any of it away. Coupled with the cold temps, it’s definitely a one-two punch. Everybody here is pretty bummed because we look forward to this race all winter as a way to see everybody and get some racing in before Spring.”

So, the $1 Bloody Marys and free aspirin will have to wait until HangoverFest 2017. In the meantime, racers and fans can look forward to the annual Racer’s Awards Banquet on January 30, 2016 at The Rock Reception Facility in Coal Valley, IL. Details on the banquet will be available on the CIR website on Monday. See you there!
