Support CIR Local Racer Stephanie Keil and Car Chix at the Rod & Custom Auto Show This Weekend

Autograph Signing to Take Place Friday Night

For the past six years, Cordova International Raceway has been a proud supporter of Car Chix and their breast cancer fundraiser event held at the World Series of Drag Racing each August.  Last year, Car Chix founder, Jeanette DesJardins, along with her merry band of volunteers, were able to raise many thousands of dollars that were donated to Genesis Center for Breast Health, Silvis Campus right here in the Quad Cities.  But that’s not the only thing Car Chix is known for!  One of their biggest events is the annual Car Chix Women on Motorsports Contest.

This contest is held annually to celebrate the women in motorsports and elects new official Car Chix members that are showcased in the Car Chix Calendar for the following year.  This year, the contest ran only 7 days (decreased from 14 days in years’ past) and received 440 entries from women around the world!  During the contest, the Car Chix Facebook Page got locked down for a short period of time by Facebook Security.  The page was reaching nearly 30 MILLION PEOPLE!  With the abundance of Car Chix Fans sharing the contestants’ photos and Car Chix posts, it triggered a security breach at Facebook that disabled LIKES, SHARES and even MENTIONS of Car Chix completely.  “So many people were participating in the Car Chix Women of Motorsports Contest, that it triggered Facebook Security,” Jeanette DesJardins, Car Chix President, laughed, “they thought we were hacked or hijacked by a bot.”

Car Chix President, Jeanette DesJardins and Facebook were able to get everything straightened out and the contest was back in session.  The security breach lasted about 2 hours.  Coming out on top of the contest voting was local CIR racer Stephanie Keil.  Keil, from DeWitt, IA, won the Car Chix Women of Motorsports Calendar Contest with over 1000+ votes!  “It was beyond unbelieveable to win!  We had likes and shares from law enforcement officers, lawyers, nurses, doctors, teachers, businesses, NASA employees, trade members, champions, crew members for professional drivers, hunters, cancer survivors, cancer fighters ...I could seriously go on and on.  My actual entry was shared over 550 times. I cannot thank you enough. I appreciate you more than you will ever know.”

Keil will be displaying her dragster this weekend at the annual Rod and Custom Auto Show at the Expo Center in Rock Island from Friday, January 22-Sunday, January 24.  Make sure to stop by her area on Friday night from 5-7pm where Keil will be autographing her calendars.  Calendars will be available to purchase for $10, with all proceeds going to the Car Chix Drag Racing For Life Fundraiser.
