CIR Volunteer Day
Saturday, April 18
Spring cleaning is more than just a phrase at Cordova International Raceway (CIR). Dozens of volunteers will converge on the 190 acre dragstrip to help spruce up the area before the racing season gets underway.
"The winter weather is hard on the buildings and the grounds. Volunteer Day gets the community together to help tidy up our facility," said Bobbi Jo Cox, General Manager. In the past, volunteers ranged
from racers, their families, fans, and local residents. "It's a great way for the people that use Cordova International Raceway to give back to the place they spend every weekend in the summer months. They feel like it's their track when they take ownership in its appearance," said Nicole Kilmer, Sales, Marketing and PR Manager at CIR.
There's a wide variety of projects and there's something for every skill level. Projects include carpentry work, tree trimming, grounds clean-up, staining and painting, fence repair, and general cleaning. Volunteer Day gets underway Saturday, April 18 at 9 AM and lasts most of the day. Those wanting to help can come for part or all of the day. Volunteers are asked to bring rakes, shovels, tree and hedge trimmers, etc. Lunch will be served and ALL volunteers will also get a voucher to come back to race or watch an event this season.
